Scientific Symposium & CSS 2025
The Ferments du Futur consortium gathered on November 4 and 5 for two days at the heart of Paris-Saclay, bringing together researchers, industry players, and institutional partners. These two days were rich in exchanges and full of ambition to prepare the program’s second phase, from 2026 to 2028.
A unifying scientific symposium
On November 4, nearly 50 people attended the scientific symposium, a moment of collective emulation around the advances in Ferments du Futur research projects, prospective scientific and technological reflections, and a fascinating focus on data and artificial intelligence.
The morning was dedicated to presenting the 2023 research projects, allowing project leaders and committees to share their results and learnings. The afternoon then shifted to prospective reflection led by the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), combining science and innovation in a long-term approach.
A specific focus was dedicated to Data and Artificial Intelligence themes, with an update on the work carried out within our “SIDURI” data warehouse.
These exchanges were punctuated by rich discussions, testifying to the diversity and complementarity of the expertise within the consortium. The convivial moments, particularly around lunch, also helped strengthen ties between academic partners and companies.
A Strategic Orientation Committee to project the 2026 roadmap
n November 5, members of the Strategic Orientation Committee (SOC) gathered at the Danone Research and Innovation Center for a full day of work dedicated to the program’s governance and strategic directions.
The session was opened by Antoine Baule, President of Ferments du Futur, and Monique Axelos, Vice-President, followed by a detailed update on the overall progress of consortium activities.
Members then debated and voted on the 2026 budget, as well as the directions for the upcoming 2026 Call for Projects (AAP), which will be launched at the end of 2026.
The afternoon was devoted to a presentation of ongoing work on defining the business model for our “SIDURI” data warehouse, the election of the new Executive Board, and two expert presentations on patent analysis in fermentation (INPI) and the “Microbes” prospective study led by INRAE’s DEPE.
From initial results to a continuing collective momentum
After three years of existence, Ferments du Futur has successfully united a unique network of around forty public and private actors, committed to accelerating research and innovation on ferments and fermentation.
The discussions and orientations arising from these two days reflect the maturity of the consortium and the strength of its collective dynamic. In a relatively short time, the projects launched are already beginning to produce tangible results.
