Call For Projects 2025
Ferments du Futur is launching its third pre-competitive call for projects, aimed at overcoming the scientific and technological barriers that slow innovation in the fields of FdF

Eligibility
- This call is open to all French public research institutions, as well as Technical Institutes affiliated with ACTIA. Companies, including startups, are not eligible.

Projects selected will primarily focus on the field of food and nutrition.
Where applicable, particular attention will be paid to how the project addresses issues of, on the one hand, sustainability (use of water, energy, waste management,etc.), and the other hand, economic feasibility (regulatory context, target market,etc.). -
Transdisciplinary and collaborative approaches are strongly encouraged.
The project's potential to deliver proofs of concept or even protectable results (patents, know-how,etc.) by the end of the project (targeting TRL 3-4) will be considered during the selection process. - Project coordinators will have priority access to equipment funded by FdF at its innovation center (CI2F) in Orsay and its distributed platforms (PFD) across 7 INRAE units, by contacting FdF to check availibility and equipment costs.
- FdF will fund up to 6 projects, each with a maximu grant of €250,000 and a maximum duration of 2 years.
Two-Phase Selection Process
PHASE 1
Submission of a 2-page letter of intent in English, following the provided template.
Deadline :
February 7, 2025, at noon
PHASE 2
Submission of a full exploratory project (5 pages) in English, following the provided template.
Deadline :
May 5, 2025, at noon
2025 Call for Projects Themes
This year, the call focuses exclusively on three specific themes (No Generic track) :
- Predictive models in microbial ecology, with the option to use the SIDURI data warehouse
- Optimized management of fermentation processes, including precision fermentation
- Consumer perception of fermentation and ferments products
For its second edition in 2024, Ferments du Futur has selected 6 projects, covering the 4 key areas of the program.
